It is DEAD silent in my home right now....
Crazy thing is, even though I
crave the quiet at times, I also miss the noise just as much. Maybe, it's because the noise really isn't "noise." It is side effects of our home and life.... and I love them all.
Cooper screaming each new word or sound he hears... I guess that is his way of letting us know he really is listening to what we say. There is no
pitter patter in these halls... it is more like the ramming of ride on toys into door frames and walls (which will not be getting touch up paint anytime soon). Then there is Austin "teaching" Cooper new things.... this is a show all on it's own. His newest song is as follows:
"Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream, throw momma overboard and listen to her scream. 10 days later floatin' down the Delaware, chewin' on her underwear, wish she had another pair. 12 days later bitten by a crocodile, poor old crocodile died." And you ask, where would a child learn this awful song? His mother! That's right... straight out of my Camp
Windywood days.... I taught it to him on the way to church one morning!! ( Bad timing) I guess he needed to know that I was a wacky kid, too. I tell him, yet he doesn't really believe me. Good thing is, Cooper can only say "row, row, row, row, row" (you get the picture).
Then there are the conversations that take place between two people in our home who are usually on two different ends of the house.... "Austin, come get your clothes and put them away." "Huh?" "I said, come get your clothes and put them away.... and it's ma'am, not huh" "Okay, just let me finish this real quick and I will." "No, I said now... when I say now, that means now." "Okay...okay...." Then from somewhere you hear
Ragan join in... "Austin, are you listening your mother?" "Yes,
siiirrrrr" (you get the picture)
I cherish the noise now, because one day I will have plenty of peace and quiet and I know I will be missing all the "noise."
